Filmed partly under water, Empty Set features a disjointed relationship between the human body and the natural environment. The mediation of technology surfaces in gestures tailored to devices, that without them become meaningless. The lens of the camera becomes the mind’s eye as the sense of sight is rerouted and becomes a sense of spatial relations through touch. Looking at questions of redundancy in language and movement, the hyper-familiar relationship between body and self is investigated through empty gesture. The body is divorced from purpose and becomes the object of investigation.
